Courses and Curriculum: Grades 2-5
Elementary Core Subjects
English Language Arts / Mathematics / Social Studies / Science

2nd to 5th grade classrooms are taught with an integrated approach. Student groupings in the classroom vary based on need, ability, and interest. Students engage in peer modeling, enhanced social experiences, project-based learning (PBL) and unique, self-paced learning opportunities.
- Methodologies and instructional practices such as lab experiments, research, interviews, modeling, Socratic questioning, and project based learning.
- Authentic assessments are utilized to monitor student learning with a variety of representations (projects, presentations, public outreach initiatives, written work, etc.)
- Focus is on developing critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, independence and collaboration skills.
- Technology is infused with learning as a natural and essential tool.
- Our 2nd/3rd Grade classrooms are team taught. The benefits of team teaching and multi-age classrooms are many, and, we've found, better meets individual student learning needs at this level. Our 2nd and 3rd graders learn together and, at times, separately.
